Vaginal discharge is a normal part of a woman's biological cycle. For the most the part, discharges are are a mucuous-like substance which will vary depending where an individual is in their menstrual cycle. Vaginal discharge is heightened just prior to ovulation where the quantity of     discharge may increas by up to thirty times  higher than just after ovulation has occured. If discharge is clumpy, yellow, green, or has a foul odor, you should immediately seek medical attention.

Warning Signs Of Unhealthy Vaginal Discharge

* An increase in the amount of discharge

* A change in the color or smell of the discharge

* An irritation, itchiness or burning in or around your vagina

* A discharge that's stained with blood when you're not having your period

* A watery, yellowish or greenish bubbly discharge

* White, cottage cheese-like discharge

* White, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge

* Clear and stretchy discharge is normal

* Clear and watery discharge may occur after exercising

* Brown discharge may occur right after periods or during pregnancy, but otherwise is a sign of a problem

 

Vaginal discharge may change in appearance due to any of the following conditions:

Diet, ovulation, breastfeeding, emotional stress, sexual excitement, ovulation, menstruation, pregnancy, prescribed and OTC medications, an STD, forgotton tampon, atrophic vaginitis (post-menopausal women)

Ways to help avoid unhealthy vaginal discharge:

Keep the genital area dry and clean, do not douche unless directed by a doctor, use condoms when sexually active, avoid tight fitting pants, wear cotton panties, use pads rather than tampons, avoid using an FDS,
