Frequent urination is a real problem for a larger percentage of the population than most people would ever think, and contrary to popular belief it is not limited to the elderly and pregnant although those are the most common demographics. Urinating frequently - more than 8 times a day - or waking up to go to the bathroom could be a sign that you are taking in too much fluid during the day, or that you are drinking too much fluid prior to going to sleep. It is however possible that frequent urination may be a sign of a larger problem.
It is possible to counteract frequent urination in some cases by cutting down on your fluid intake until you find an amount that keeps you properly hydrated and ends your frequent urination urges, or to discontinue drinking fluids a couple hours prior to going to sleep if nighttime urination is your problem. If neither of those approaches solves your problem you should seek the advice of a doctor.
