H1N1 Pandemic Flu

The 2009 Influenza Outbreak

In 2009, a strain of influenza went pandemic. Starting in Mexico and making its way around the globe, H1N1 Swine Flu showed that it was a potential threat to humans. After quick vaccine turnaround and immunization campaign in the midst of widespread infection, nearly half of Americans are now immunized due to vaccine or infection.

But what is H1N1? What is Swine Flu? How did a seasonal inconvenience cause such a scare? Was the virus really that deadly? What does this mean for the future of influenza and how do we protect against it?

This zone will answer those questions.
